Supreme Nutrition Products has decided to add several glandulars to its product line. Our glandulars are freeze dried, 100% grass fed, ovine (sheep) liver from young sheep raised in New Zealand. As with all of our products, there are no fillers, binders, flow agents or any other ingredients other than the capsule. We decided with our glandulars to use ovine as opposed to bovine (cow) sources. Ovine is one of the most hypoallergenic foods as well as one of the cleanest domesticated animals. Ovine is also generally harvested at a younger age vs bovine.
Even though bovine sources work well, ovine in our opinion is a superior source. Also, many products on the market are from non-organic, non-grass fed animals or from countries with less ideal growing conditions than New Zealand.
The concept of glandular therapy is that oral ingestion of certain animal-gland material will strengthen the corresponding gland in humans (“like treats like” as it will have all the enzymes, hormones and co-factors the gland needs for proper functioning and healing).
Our fourth glandular product is freeze dried 100% grass fed sheep heart from New Zealand. For those of you that do not wish to include heart in your diet, taking it in supplemental form is ideal. Eating heart of various animals has been a traditional food for many centuries in South America, European, Japanese and Jewish cultures
To give you an idea of how nutrient dense heart is, a 3 oz serving of heart contains the following percentages of RDA of these nutrients: Iron 68%, Phosphorus 22%, Copper 24%, Folate 2%, Selenium 48%, Zinc 17%, Riboflavin 61%, Vitamin B12 383%, Vitamin B6 17%, and Choline 36%.
Heart is also perhaps the richest natural source of CoQ10 and L-carnitine. Many alternative medicine physicians have used it to try to help support those with heart damage due to the recent increase in myocarditis. Also, elite and professional athletes have an increased need for carnitine, as it is essential for muscle repair (heart is also considered a rich source of collagen and elastin). In these cases we feel a whole food that contains high quantities of L-carnitine is preferable. Studies show L-carnitine found naturally in food has much better absorption than L-carnitine pills (1). L-carnitine pills also often are derived from petrochemicals or a fermentation process of e.coli, neither of which is ideal. Supplemental CoQ10 often involves nickel catalysts and sometimes even tobacco waste (3). Again, the whole food form contained in grass fed heart should be far cleaner and superior.
Dosage: 2-4 capsules once per day for general wellbeing.
